We’re deeply passionate about supporting causes that strive to improve vision care for everyone. Many communities in need often lack adequate resources to access basic eye care services. By partnering with organizations that share our vision, we are proud to be part of a worldwide movement to improve vision care.
Third World Eye Care Society (TWECS)
Our practice is proud to support the Third World Eye Care Society (TWECS), a chapter of VOSH (Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity). This international nonprofit organization is dedicated to offering free, quality vision care services through short-term clinics and establishing sustainable programs to promote ongoing local vision care.
Dr. Smart has been privileged to participate in 4 TWECS trips, including Ichocan, Peru, in 2004; Jambiani, Zanzibar, in 2006; Olongopo, Philippines, in 2010; and Tacloban, Philippines, in November 2015. To contribute to these trips, we accept gently used glasses at all 3 of our offices for donation.
World Sight Day Challenge
Every year, our practice engages in the World Sight Day Challenge, an initiative managed by Optometry Giving Sight. Over 1 billion people across the globe lack access to essential eye care. The World Sight Day Challenge is dedicated to advocating for vision care and raising funds to combat treatable vision impairment.
Through our involvement in the World Sight Day Challenge, our dedicated team and valued patients have made significant contributions, helping transform the lives of over 7.6 million people. Donations have helped fund training for local eye care professionals and establish vision centers for sustainable, quality vision care.
